It's just not my scene, sitting out on the beach drinking all day. I'm more of an active person. For a hour or two, it can be quite refreshing though. The beaches here have lovely fine white sands, which I suspect is part of the popularity. I much prefer it at sunset after all the bars have closed up and you have a much larger area to walk around.Recommended for:

Playa Norte is one of the best kid-friendly beaches in the Riviera Maya. A long strip of white sand on the northern edge of Isla Mujeres, the water deepens so slowly into the turquoise sea, you can wade almost a hundred yards and still be only waist deep. The shallow waters also mean that there are virtually no waves, making it a safe place for small children to play in and near the water. For older kids (and, of course, adults too), there are beachfront kiosks offering rentals of kayaks, Hobie Cats, stand up paddle boards and snorkeling equipment.Recommended for:
