The Plaza de la Constitution is right next to the historical Palacio de la Moneda (Presidential Palace). It is an expansive area of walkways surrounded by grass.

Central plaza in downtown Santiago, good for getting your bearings. This is where you will find the Palacio de la Moneda.

Very impressive plaza where you can the Municipality of Santiago/Chile. Walk around the building, has two beautiful sides. I think that you can enter to the building on some specific days.

Description:

At this broad, grassy plaza, right on Santiago's main drag, you can see the presidential palace, the changing of the guards, or watch lots of folks in business suits hurry by. But the most interesting part of the plaza is actually underneath it: There's a large museum complex under the plaza, featuring changing exhibits and a couple of respected restaurants. The plaza is also a historic site: On September 11, 1973, a military coup at the presidential palace overthrew Chilean president Salvador Allende, an operation backed by the United States. In the operation, the Plaza and the Palace were both bombed and burned.
