Plaza Serrano is the local name for Plaza Julio Cortazar (one of Argentina's most famous authors). There are many bars, clubs, and restaurants lining this plaza. That being said, it's also family friendly during the day, as there is a playground in the middle of the plaza. If you're into souvenirs, artisans and knick-knacks, I recommend the fair on weekends and holidays, where locals sell really cool items. Buenos Aires is very laid back and you will find that many bars and restaurants let you drink outside, which is really great during Argentine summers. Though Plaza Serrano does get overrun by tourists (which makes the price of items go up) there are many great happy hours during the week that you can take advantage of.

Come here for drinks before going to a club. It is packed with bars and people. People do not go to clubs until 2:30am.

Surrounded by cafes that spill out onto the street, Plaza Serrano is a popular Palermo hangout area that turns into a street fair on weekends.

Cute little park/square in the center of Palermo Hollywood. People gather here and chat, during the day you'll find some stalls, and at night they bring out the tables for outdoor dining.

Description

Feel the heartbeat of Buenos Aires by stepping out in the Plaza Serrano. If you want to experience true Argentine nightlife, this is the place for you; this neighborhood is known to attract the most fashionable, coolest people in town. Have a drink at the Madagascar bar or one of the other local bars, or stop in and eat some empanadas at any of the nearby eateries. This place also pulsates during the day; on the weekends you can buy local crafts, clothing, jewelry and wares from the merchants who set up shop in the plaza.
