What a genius idea. Just because I'm willing to share a room doesn't mean I don't want all the bonus amenities. Thank you Hostel Plus for figuring that out!
This place has the vibe of a hipster hostel: I walked in and the reception staff was joking around and hugging each other. There are a zillion signs, all in English, about the cheapest bus to all the places you want to get to and the night life and suggestions for everything you might be looking for.
The rooms are fine: clean and simple with bunk beds just like you expect from a hostel. But the moment this place really earns its "Plus" title is in all the additional options. There is a rooftop bar and a basement bar. The basement bar is also a restaurant with a super long table and board games built in. They said there is a pool outside there in the summer but it wasn't open when I was there. The bar has good beers and the energy there is fun. What really made my jaw drop though was that there's a spa! A shallow warm pool lit by wacky colored lights, as well as dry sauna and steam room. I was beside myself. Wifi is free if you have your own computer, or you can rent theirs by the half hour.
Definitely get the all-you-can-eat breakfast for just €6! It's an amazing deal because they have eggs and bacon and the whole deal. You can add dinner and have both for €15.
Parking is possible, but it costs €15. The only other thing that marred my experience at all was the elevator. You have to press the call button, wait for a while, let the light go out, press it again, and then it will come. Quicker to take the stairs!

Plus is a young and energetic hostel aimed at the partying, round-Europe on a group bus travelers. Facilities are decent and there is a roof top bar with a great view. They bill themselves as a luxury hostel and I'm still not exactly sure what that means. They've got good facilities, but they aren't luxurious.

In a city with not many good hostel options, Plus Florence's otherwise-dim shine seems positively blinding. Clean, comfortable-ish, fun, and young. It's a hostel. The front desk will help you book one of their many tours of Florence and Tuscany-at-large (run both by other companies and the hostel itself) and the roof-top bar is pretty decent and always lively. I've heard there's a pool in the basement, but never actually checked it out. This is part of a national "chain" of hostels, so there is some sort of standard of cleanliness and service observed. The bar isn't particularly high, but you could do much, much worse.

I love hostels like this! Tons of energy and colors around in the lobby and communal areas, and it's very clear that they really value making things easy for travelers. There is the option to have a cheap all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast there for just €6, as well as cheap dinner every night (from 6-11pm); if you've had enough sightseeing for one day, I find these can be very comforting options. There are definitely no frills here, as it's very simple (often shared dorm) accommodation, but the rooms and common areas all looked extremely clean, as well as tidy and cared for. There are other nice hostel amenities: bar/big dance floor, pool table and ping pong machine, watching machine facilities, but what really sets the PLUS Hostel above the rest are the extras: a crazy, awesome indoor glow-in-the-dark pool, right next to the sauna and turkish bath!! I've never heard of such living inside an equally great hostel. Also, there's a second pool that's outdoors (they told us it would open May 9). Overall, the PLUS Hostel has all my favorite qualities of great hostels - simple, easy, full of vibrancy and energy.
There are dorm-style rooms with 4, 6, or 8 beds. There are also "Girl Plus" packages for extra pampering. Facilities include in the price is access to a neon-lit pool, sauna, and steam room, internet point, wifi, laundry, 24-hour reception, workout room, a supermarket, outdoor terrace bar, basement bar, and restaurant with discount all-you-can-eat offers.
