It's the perfect balance between a budget hotel (good value, in-room private bathroom), a hostel-vibe (hip staff and guests, great lounge and rooftop bar) plus some cool extras (free wi-fi, lots and lots of plugs, safe, etc). Yes, the rooms are small but comfortable enough if you plan to spend the whole day sightseeing.
And to top it off, Pod 39 is all about location: all the Midtown sights are at a walkable distance (Times Square, 30 Rock, Empire State and a large etc) and close to Grand Central Terminal.Recommended for:

POD 39 Hotel is a great accommodation for budget traveler groups of 2+ people. The hotel boasts Ikea style with a hip urban flair. On the 17th floor is a rooftop bar where the main hotel decor ends and enchantment starts which is complemented by the open top brick frame, rust colored pillars, and stringed light fixtures that suspend above the bar.Recommended for:

It was an interesting experience for me because I''ve never stayed in a hotel room tinier than this one. Plus it's modern and it was my first and only night in NY. My friend and I got a reasonable deal because it was still under construction early August. Looking through the roof top pics on yelp bums me out cuz it wasn't available when we were there (probably that's why it was cheaper).
Room: open the door and the bed is in front of u facing toward the bathroom and the shower. The glass wall dividing the bedroom and the restroom is frosted. This was very awkward cuz I shared the room with a guy friend. It was awkward cuz I could see a blurry figure of him sitting on the toilet (ewww). I was too paranoid to bend down to pick stuff off the floor in the shower because the wall was frosted in the middle and not the bottom.
Walking distance to time square. Staying there more than one night would have drove me nuts.
Warning: the sliding bathroom door handle is a hole, not a doorknob. That means one of u should get out of the room while the other goes #2Recommended for:

If you're traveling alone and will only be here for a few nights, this place isn't bad. It's incredibly small, so it might be a real challenge with more than one person in a room. Though, I found the use of space to be kind of interesting. There's also a bar downstairs in you want to wander in for a drink without venturing into the rest of the city.
