Point Vicente is a cool place to go to spend some time out by the ocean. There’s a lighthouse that you can actually walk all the way up to see the actual light that is projected over the ocean. The lighthouse is only open one Saturday a month, so check the schedule before going if you want to go inside the lighthouse. There’s also a little museum (the Interpretive Center) dedicated to whaling as well as lots of memorabilia from the Marineland amusement park, which used to be located very close to where the museum is now. Right outside the museum, you’ll see lots of people with chairs and binoculars whale watching. They even keep a count of how many and what kinds of whales have been spotted today and throughout the last year. You can rent a pair of binoculars from the museum if you want to try some whale watching. There’s also some hiking trails and areas for picnics, so you could spend a good part of a day here.

The Point Vicente Lighthouse is effectively part of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, located on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Interpretive Center is good but go there for the beautiful views of the coastline. A portion of the Palos Verdes Loop Trail that encircles the peninsula passes through the Center.

Amazing views in a well-used and very nice park. The lighthouse is only open something like once a month, but the park is popular for picnics and has a nice trail that goes through it.
