This Soho restaurant has lots of small Venetian plates called cicchetti...really fun to do with a small group. The food is excellent and very reasonable, and the atmosphere is hip but casual.Recommended for:

Viennese cicchetti (small plates) are all the rage in London these days because of Polpo. For added chic, have a cocktail in the Campari bar downstairs while you await your table.Recommended for:

Really lovely lunch spot in Soho right off the Golden Square. They specialize in small Venetian tapas as well as small pizzas and other yummy Italian food.
I had heard they would be super crowded during lunch time but was pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately and enjoy fast service.
I had the potato and parmesan croquettes as well as the goat's cheese, kale and pine nut pizzetta. Both were very, very good and the way they prepared the kale was especially yummy. Good prices, fun atmosphere, would definitely go back.Recommended for:

It is my new favorite Tapas place. Lunch is probably the best time to come since they only take reservations for lunch time. For dinner, you will have to either come early or just show up to try your luck. The restaurant is very casual and relaxed. It is a perfect spot to catch up with friends. The menu is quite big with a definite Italian influence. Everything I tried was really good, but there are a couple of things that I love, the Spinach, Parmesan & soft egg pizzette and lamb with eggplant, tomato and onion. The have a whole section of meatballs and I tried two different kinds, and can't say that I am a big fan. There are also seasonal specials which I always try.

Wandered in here after failing to get seated at The Opera Tavern. Unpretentious, authentic, with signature octopus/calamari to savour. Couldn't tell if the cuisine was meant to be from Lombardy or the Veneto, but either would be credible.
