On my way back from Capri, we stopped by Pompeii. One of the most memorable places on earth that I've visited. There's a quiet sadness yet one can imagine the vibrancy the city once had before being buried. I'm so glad I made the trip. Memorable.

Pompeii is incredible. Few other places can you see such well-preserved (though rapidly deteriorating) historical buildings. If you haven't had a course on Pompeii like me you should get a guided tour, because context makes it even more fascinating.

You should not miss a tour through this site. You can get a real since of how the people lived when this was a thriving community. They had running water, pizza style ovens, fast food and mature activities. How much has changed and how much has stayed the same.

One of the most memorable destinations I have visited in my life. It is remarkable walking on the streets of Pompeii and seeing all the houses and even people that were buried under lava. The whole city is still there. Worth it!

This ancient city deserves a full, full day. Try and get here as early as possible. I highly recommend hiring a guide, it will give the city so much more meaning. Also, in the same day, it is possible to squeeze a bus ride into the crater at Mt. Vesuvius, if you get the opportunity, go for it, but be sure not to miss out on a guided tour!
