The Ponte degli Scalzi is one of only four bridges in Venice to span the Grand Canal. The bridge, which opened in 1934, connects the sestieri of Santa Croce and Cannaregio. On the northern side, is the Chiesa degli Scalzi (Church of the Barefoot or Discalced Monks) and the Santa Lucia railway station. The southern side, Santa Croce, is close to the bus station Piazzale Roma.

We had to cross this bridge everyday from our hotel, to get to the Ferrovia station, its stairs are pretty tiring and the street market of fake bags and cheap tripods ruins it. I had a moment here taking great pictures at late night with long shutter speed with no one on the bridge.

The Ponte degli Scalzi is one of the few bridges to span the Grand Canal and connects Santa Croce and Cannaregio. We spent plenty of time on this bridge before our train ride to Aviano watching the boat traffic go by and just enjoying the evening.
