Por Que No is a tacqueria restaurant known for their use of fresh ingredients in making delicious tacos. It can get crowded, especially since Portland doesn't have a big tacqueria scene, so don't be surprised if you find limited seating.

It was lunch time, and it was a little quiet on parts of Mississippi Avenue last Monday. Prost looked interesting, but they didn't open until 3 PM, and the food cart pod next door was closed. Ditto with Amnesia. And after passing Gravy and Laughing Planet, I remembered Suzanne F.'s recommendation and said: why not?
Por Que No is expanding their patio into the hillside, and the associated construction made getting there a little more interesting. It also took me a few minutes to figure out that you order up front and then find a place to sit. The inside has a cozy, yet comfortable hobbit-type vibe, including a rest room that felt more like a shrine. However, since the Portland day had turned sunny and warmer, I sat outside and in-between a mom and her fussy daughter and a couple construction guys enjoying their lunch.
I really enjoyed my flavourful Bryan's Bowl (with grilled chicken) and a pint of Amnesia ESB. The chips were thick and fresh and both the person at the counter and her colleague serving my order were friendly and helpful. Busing my own table was also a breeze and I thought the prices were reasonable and a good value for the money. It was a nice lunch and with interesting people to watch. I left happy, with the right sense of full, and savouring the aftertaste. Y a veces eso es todo lo que necesitas....
