It's probably trite to love this place, but they have the goods. There is something deliciously subversive and chronologically displacing about wandering the halls of an elementary school with a cocktail in your hands, years after it should all be a vague memory. Adding to this temporal shift is the theme bars in the honors bar and the detention room ...

One of my favourite places to stay in Portland. Every room is unique, record player in the room, mexican coke in the rooms and nice fast wifi. Showers here are also amazing. With Clyde Common and Stumptown part of the hotel make it very convenient. Especially if its raining.

    Benson Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    9 reviews
Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

Perhaps the best-known hotel in Portland, the historic Benson is an elegant, old-fashioned alternative to the slew of more modern, sterile hotels in downtown Portland. The older part of the building was constructed in 1912 and a second half was seamlessly added on in 1959. Both sides feature similarly priced and appointed rooms, although the older ones are a bit ...

Love the concept of a mid-century remodeled motor inn. The rates are affordable and competitive to some of the more run down 2 star hotels in the area. The walls are thin and the biggest complaint is the noise. When you check in ask for the quieter area of the hotel. Just know that you will still hear hall noise ...

Located just off the main downtown area, Hotel Modera is a modern trendy boutique hotel in which you could imagine seeing Andy Warhol sitting in the lobby on an uncomfortable fifties low back chair. Not situated in a particularly attractive building (this whole area was rebuilt in the fifties and sixties), the hotel's large lobby looks more like an office ...

White Eagle Cafe Hotel & Saloon

Ask any Portlander what the most haunted spot in town is, and chances are that she will point you in the direction of the White Eagle. This old-school tavern and lodge was built in 1905 and was once a brothel. It still has an old-time lodge feel to it that harkens back to Portland's past as a logging and port ...

This gorgeous bed and breakfast was built at the turn of the 20th century as the family home of a wealthy German brewery owner. It was later converted into a boarding house and, then, a B&B, although it still maintains much of its original period elegance. In fact, if you have a thing for Edwardian design, you probably won’t want ...

I've always enjoyed visiting the Sheraton Hotel at Portland Airport. For a relatively large hotel it has an intimate atmosphere ideal for meeting my visiting out-of -state family in the lobby and the restaurant. For a hotel of this size it has an unrushed and warm atmosphere; quite remarkable considering the bustle going on just outside and overhead. The Sheraton ...
