Very nice waterfall though my favorite is the Punch Bowl. The hike to the top of the falls is a killer and can be really crowded.

    19 reviews

One of the biggest innercity parks in the country, Forest Park encompasses miles of woodland trails, and is super popular with hikers and joggers. The most popular trail here is the Wildwood Trail, which is around 30 miles long and connects Forest Park to the adjacent Washington Park (where you'll find the zoo, the Rose Garden, the Children's Museum, and ...

    Portland Aerial Tram

3310 Southwest US Veterans Hospital Road #232, Portland, OR
    10 reviews

Primarily constructed to transport people up to the Oregon Health Sciences University hospital (which has always had a shortage of parking) the aerial tram is also a nice way to get a birds' eye view of downtown Portland from the south. It's a bit spendy for those not affiliated with the hospital, but there is a 2-for-1 Groupon available that ...

    Crystal Ballroom

1332 West Burnside Street, Portland, OR
    9 reviews

The floors of this old ballroom are super bouncy! They have a sectioned-off beer garden area for over 21s and a general area for everyone else. The building also houses a bar and a restaurant. It's run by the McMenamin's family group of bars/restaurants and their beloved brews are sold here. The Crystal Ballroom gets all kinds of bands, from ...

    Burnside Bridge

    Portland, OR, United States
    10 reviews

It's not the bridge that interests me so much as what's under it - one of the country's first homemade concrete skateparks build by skateboarders for skateboarders. Tons of rain and the absence of an indoor place to session, motivated the skaters in Portland to do something about it. The city didn't like it at first and demolished the concrete ...

    Steel Bridge

    Route 99, Portland, OR 97202
    16 reviews

A cool looking double decker bridge with an interesting history. Opened in 1912, it's over 100 years old. I read that it's the only double deck bridge with independent lifts in the world. Neat! I would like to walk or bike across this bridge someday.

    Japanese Garden

611 Southwest Kingston Avenue, Portland, OR 97205-5886
    24 reviews

Beautiful spot, and I believe it was the first major Japanese Garden in the West (or maybe the largest?). They host cultural programs throughout the year including children's day, which I found a lot of fun as a kid.

    Pioneer Courthouse Square

701 South West Morrison Street, Portland, OR 97205
    34 reviews

Dubbed by marketers ad Portland's Living Room, and called "the Square" by everyone else. This red-brick square is popular with people who work downtown and with street kids, and it's a great place to people watch. There are often events and free concerts here on weekends in the summer, especially around Rose Festival time (early June). There is also a ...

    Zupan's Markets

    4 reviews

This is a great little grocery but it is quite pricey. Ideal for specialty items or if planning a special meal. They have a great selection of fancy candles that I cannot stay away from. The produce is always so gorgeous and great quality. Their bakery is also amazing and their treats are delicious!!!

One of the only places I go to for my Asian groceries and goodies. It's a huge complex with a few good stores and restaurants on the block, and has a solid foundation for Vietnamese and Chinese goods. Stop by Meianna Bakery for pastries and the next door bubble tea shop, too!

    Icebreaker TouchLab

1109 West Burnside Street, Portland, OR
    1 review

Wandering around Portland's Pearl District, It was awesome to stumble across an actual bricks-and-mortar retail outlet of my favorite New Zealand wool clothing brand. Sure, it's not cheap. But it's sustainable manufactured and with some care, one of these wool sweaters, jackets or pullover tops should last you 10 years.

This is my Son's neighborhood park and at 90+ acres, it's relatively huge. It has plenty of space to walk around in it's nicely wooded expanse, and has the other stuff that folks like including a baseball field, basketball court, tennis, picnic areas, and an off-leash area for Fido.
