OHSU Center for Health and Healing

    4
    2 reviews

After my Son's Parent Teacher Conference, I drove over and took the Kid to the 3rd Floor of the OHSU Center for Health and Healing. This is the building down below from "Stratos", home of the OHSU Cloud Minders. It's at the foot of the tram and right next to the really cool ship building yard. The hardest thing about ...

    Portland Aerial Tram

    4
    10 reviews

This tram isn't far from the opera housing. You could either walk, it is about a mile away, or take the train one stop. A round trip fare is $4 and children under 6 ride free. It offers GREAT views of the city and would be fun for the little ones. The tram takes you to the top of the ...

    Portland Farmers' Market

    5
    24 reviews

I spent my time having farmers' market envy. Wished I had a kitchen and lots of people to cook for. Afraid the hotel wouldn't allow me to use their kitchen. Fresh artichokes, blackberries the size of a silver dollar, bushel baskets of basil, heirloom tomatoes, charentais melons, fresh salmon, chevre, local distillery spirits, local bread...

Anything that gets me out on the water is a good thing. This wan't nearly as cheesy as I feared it might be. We did the lunch cruise, and the food was pretty good. It's a relaxing way to see the scenery.

    World Forestry Center

    4.5
    4 reviews

The World Forestry Center is located in Washington Park and is across the street (with a shared parking lot) to the Zoo and a significant Portland Public Transit Stop. The main building is stunning in its Cascadian (I assume) architecture, including the grand entry, and the interesting carvings and other stuff outside. Inside (and for a modest entry fee) are ...

Food Front Cooperative Grocery: Hillsdale Store

    4.5
    3 reviews

Sometimes it seems like there's a Coop behind ever corner in Portland. While many metropolitan areas "make do" with Whole Foods, the Rose City has a plethora of choices for whatever organic, gluten-free, etc. floats the local boat. My ex-wife has been gluten-free for over 20 years and I bet she couldn't believe her good fortune when she moved to ...

    Hillsdale Farmer's Market

    4.5
    2 reviews

The Hillsdale Farmer's Market has a nice mix of high quality produce, baked goods, fish and elk, colourful Portlandia locals, and drizzle. It's located at Wilson High School and when it was in full swing last Sunday, parking space was at a premium. Of course, if I lived here, I'd probably walk, bike, or take the bus here.

    Rose Garden Arena

    4.5
    11 reviews

Portland's giant arena is beautiful, well-designed, and makes every effort to maximize audience experience no matter what seats you can afford. Parking is convenient and cheap (relative to many California arenas, that is), and though the food is expensive, at least it's good. This is one of my favorite indoor places on the West Coast to see a major act.

    Bagdad Theater & Pub

    4.5
    3 reviews

Pizza, beer, and a cheap movie? Why did it take so long for someone to combine these in one convenient location? The McMenamin family was at the forefront of the theater-pub trend in Portland, and this gorgeously renovated vintage theater is the best of the best. Classic theater (as in plays)-style seats have been improved with long wooden tables, where ...

    Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden

    4.5
    4 reviews

If you find yourself in Southeast Portland, take a stroll through the charming Rhododendron Gardens across from Reed College. Though small, these gardens pack a lot into a small space - bridges and stairs, ponds full of geese, little benches nestled into forested nooks, and expanses of grass perfect for picnics. And, of course, the rhododendrons and other flower varieties, ...

Whatever you think of Reed - hippies! brainiacs! communists! what's reed? - there's no arguing that it's a beautiful campus. This liberal arts school, nestled in Southeast Portland between the upscale tree-lined streets of Eastmoreland and the lovely nature paths of the Crystal Springs rhododendron Gardens, is a lovely maze of gothic-style buildings, Victorian homes converted into dorms, new brick ...

I haven't been here since they converted it to MLS but I think they made it even better. Best part is you can see live games through a fence by the sidewalk for free. Very intimate setting for any type of sporting event!

First off, let me mention how absolutely terrified of heights I am. Now, let me say how exciting and amazing this hike was. I came here once on a 5th grade field trip and putting aside my paranoia, it was a wonderful experience and absolutely beautiful. The hike is steep and not very monitored, so you'll have to be careful, ...
