I stayed here on New Year's Eve 2006. We had a great room, and at midnight there were thousands of people running a marathon going past the hotel. It was very exciting and inspiring to start the new year with that image. The beds are super cozy. The walls are nice and thick, so I didn't hear neighbors or any outside noise.

A good deal pretty close to downtown Portland, this Marriott is comfortable, clean and half the rooms have a beautiful riverfront view. My mom loved the indoor pool and hot tub. There's a full breakfast (not included) restaurant, but it's pricy, so I'd suggest grabbing a croissant at the cafe next to the front desk. Parking is valet only, so be prepared to wait five minutes (or call ahead) when you go downstairs to retrieve your car.

Gayle and I stayed here during one of our Portland trips. We had a nice (albeit a bit small) room with a nice view, flat screen TV, Internet we didn't get charged for, and a comfortable vibe. The hotel is also within a reasonable walking distance to Downtown sites and of course the Streetcar. And since Gayle and I had such a nice time together and the young, helpful, and eager to please staff was so nice and in one case spot on with a dinner recommendation (Andina), I would easily rate our overall experience at 4 Stars.
There are 2 really confusing things about this Marriott. One involves how to actually drive into the front entrance area considering the one-way street grid Downtown and the counter-intuitive entrance flow. The other is how easy it is to mix this place up with the Residence Inn in the nearby River Place area. 2 or the 3 friends who picked us up at the hotel, ended up at the Residence. And based on the refreshment freebies, the roomier accommodations, and the number of Marriott points required, the Residence might have been a wiser choice.
