Don't let the lines for this place stop you from coming here.... it sort of goes by fast and its sort of worth it! The place to grab some lunch and dessert! If you are craving a hot pressed Cuban Sandwich come here. Add some of their killer Potato Ball or the Guava and Cheese Rolls for the perfect meal!

Gawd. Restaurants that force patrons to search for parking and on top pay for it suck. I make a note to avoid restaurant like those like the plague, but Portos gosh... Your potatoe balls and cheeserolls are just too darn tasty. *shakes fist vigorously*
Their hallmark treat is the cheese roll and while you may think that cheese and bread is always tasty, theirs is the best. For $.70 a piece this light and flaky pastry is a perfect sweet treat. Now if you want something savory the Potato balls are the way to go. It's slightly more expensive at $.90 a piece but this magical bomb explodes with flavor. The unassuming crunchy exterior is filled a silky smooth interior with a delicious meat filling.
I live too far to come regularly but I would despite the crummy parking situation.

It's completely overwhelming when you first step inside, there's just so much stuff you can order. Whatever you do, do not miss the excellent potato balls, they are worth the trip alone.

Life is now broken down to 2 distinct eras:
BP = Before Portos
AP = After Portos
Mind-blowing, life-altering FANTASTIC FOOD with GREAT PRICES. Yes, the potato balls and cheese rolls are melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness, but $23 (or less) 8" cakes? UNHEARD OF in Los Angeles. Try the Triple Chocolate Mousse. Your mouth (and your eyes!) will thank you. And you'll be the most popular guest at the birthday party.
- arrive after 6pm to avoid lines
- discounts on dozens

Pastries that are perfectly sweet!
If you're Asian, I think you would agree with me that American pastries and cakes are overly sweet. Often times I would take a bite and I put my fork down because the sweetness overwhelms me. Literally. With that in mind, it's hard to find pastries shops that would please my mom. She has a sweet tooth but it has to be moderately sweet and taste must be above par. That's when Porto's Bakery came along!
As everyone knows, Porto's Bakery is a cuban bakery. At first, I was like, "Huh? Cuban bakery? How great can that be.. it must be overly sweet like American pastries." But my, oh my, I was so wrong! Porto's pastries has perfect sweetness, it even passed with flying colors for my mom. :)
But beware, Porto's has long line especially during lunch time. Everyone's trying to take a bite of the infamous potato balls, cheese rolls, guava cheese rolls, cuban sandwiches, and etc. It also doesn't help that their pricing is so reasonable, which creates a long line sometimes out the door! But it's worth the wait, trust me!
If you have the time to sit down and eat, I'd recommend ordering some of their sandwiches. If not, you should to go their cheese rolls or danishes! I especially like their pear danish. YUM. I still have yet to try their cake but I tried some pineapple cake that my friend brought over to a birthday gathering one day and it was delish!

I used to drive all the way to Burbank to get my Porto's fix. I had no idea there's a huge one in Glendale too.
My favorite item is the potato balls. It's filled with cheesy meaty goodness. You can ask them to heat it up for you so you can enjoy it hot.
They have an express line for cake only. I was able to be helped quickly when getting 2 cakes for my work. They have beautiful cakes with several delicious flavor options. They will write a message for you on the spot. It's so convenient because you don't have to order ahead of time. All their cakes taste great so you pick anything that looks good.
The store is clean, pretty, and organized. The service is better here than the Burbank one. They even have a small party store upstairs.

A lot of people rave about Porto's. I've had their sweets; pastries, danishes, tarts and cakes. And all of them were good. When I actually had a chance to go to the bakery/cafe in Glendale, I tried the omelette platter and roasted pork sandwich which were both ok , nothing spectacular. There is always a long line so try to come early to get a table. There's a lot of metered parking at the back of the cafe.

Portos is a fixture in Glendale. It is probably one of the more popular bakeries in all of Southern California, but it does not stop there since they also have delicious sandwiches and food. Most that enter here will first be overwhelmed at the lines and crowds. Just know that there are 2 separate lines at both sides of the restaurant and you can order anything on both sides.
-=-Medionoche Preparada-=- this is my go-to sandwich whenever I eat at Portos. I first chose it since it sounded like it had the most content, but now I am seeing newer chicken fajita and grilled steak sandwiches. Ham and potato croquette in between soft Cuban bread, you really can't go wrong with that. But I now feel overdue for a revisit to try the other stuff.
-=-Mariquitas-=- sandwiches already come with a small portion of these, but they are so cheap anyway and when ordered separately can be shared with 3 or 4 people. The best part about these chips is the garlic oil dip. It's just so tasty. The drawback to these is that the oil can potentially drip everywhere since the mariquitas don't hold on to the oil too well. Don't be eating this on your couch unless you want an oily spot.
-=-Potato Balls-=- I've been sampling potato balls at other Cuban spots, even as far as Florida. Portos are still the best and the best priced. I almost order a dozen or so to share with my friends and family. Between these and the cheese rolls are probably the most known of all the Portos foods.
-=-Cheese Rolls-=- A simple pastry, but damn delicious. It's more of a sweet than savory cheese, but it just works so well in this pastry.

PLEASE PLEASE Portos open up a location in South OC / closer to me than just your Cerritos location please like in Irvine/ Orange! =)
This place is so worth the long wait..there's a GOOD reason why this place is so popular, BECAUSE it's THAT GOOD! =)
They have everything that you can ask for from Sandwiches, fruit tarts, chocolate delights, potato / coconut balls, drinks/coffee, etc...
This place beats Cheesecake Factory's cheesecakes any day! =)
If you haven't been here & you have a sweet tooth, this place is a dessert lover's HEAVEN & a MUST TRY! =)

I am glad Porto's is somewhat far from me. Or else I'd be a complete utter fatass. Their delicious pastry and baked goods are so yummy and affordable.
potato balls, so good, but so bad.
I just learned that these little delicious little fried balls are 500 calories each! I was really sad to find that out. Ignorance is bliss, and I wish could be an ignorant fatty right now.
The bread and pastries, why is everything so good!?
-I had one of their sandwiches. Forgot which one, just remembered that it was good. Real good.
-Cheese rolls, also amazing.
-Tamales, bomb, and cheap too!
-cake, bought a few birthday cakes here. Haven't had a complaint yet!
Everything here is pretty much amazingly delicious treats. And the price is so cheap that one could easily get super duper fat from it. Every time I hear the word Porto's, makes my mouth water.
