Where better to promote rainforest preservation than the middle of the rainforest? Posada Amazonas is a gorgeous Peruvian eco-lodge located in Tambopata that won the Rainforest Alliance Trendsetter Award in 2012. It is owned by the indigenous Ese-Eja community and is situated in one of the most biodiverse regions in the Amazon Basin. Posada Amazonas strives to maintain almost total sustainability to stay in harmony with its natural surroundings, and has even been declared a nature preserve because of the amazing wildlife that roam the property.Recommended for:Green Travelers

This is a perfect example of ecotrousim where the native community took part in the building of the lodge and participate in its operation. The community recevies 60 percent of the lodges profits.
The rooms are comfortable and open to the jungle (with mosquito nets to keep the bugs out), the activities were well organized and the guides incredibly knowledgeable. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of visiting Tambopata.
