Of all the hotels and hostels in South Beach, and there are so many, Posh Hostel is the most unique among them. The place is immaculately renovated with brand new modern furnishings and décor, plus a rooftop infinity pool. So, what could possibly be the downside to this place? The sea of dormitory-style beds in one room and the rows of open showers. Basically, the place is as posh as can be but there is no privacy whatsoever. Let's put it this way. If Versace had to design a prison and was forced to stay there on house arrest, it would look like the Posh South Beach Hostel. The benefit of this, however, is that if you're an adventurer traveling alone, the friendly hostel vibe is a great place to meet like-minded travelers. And in a city like Miami, friendliness is a priceless commodity. Plus, you get the added benefit of super cheap rates, which is good because you'll need the extra money since South Beach is so expensive.

Great new hostel concept. The basic idea is that there is a large amount of common space with high end furniture and appliances, but the sleeping area is set up with bunk beds inside of a huge main room and a couple smaller ones. Shared space is taken to an extreme.
The common area is primarily on the top floor and has a large plasma screen television, a large leather couch and a few tables. There are new iMacs for use and a large kitchen with ample counter space and modern appliances. The look is really modern with marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances. There is also a rooftop pool with a nice city view.
The sleeping area has really well made bunks with steel frames and heavy lockers. The mattresses are made of memory foam and fairly comfortable. There are modern showers that are large and well stocked with soap and shampoo. The bathroom is a separate room.
All in all I really loved the concept, but when there are too many people in one room it actually makes it less social. I think the reason why is that there is too much to focus on so you have to just block out your surroundings. Kind of like what happens in really large cities. Individual rooms tend to make for better social interaction.
The other issue is that everything is coed with pretty limited privacy in the showers and the stalls in the bathroom are way too small. Considering the rest of the hostel this is a strange detail to overlook.
A great choice if you are looking for a place with a home-like feel and aren't too sensitive about privacy.
