Classic, traditional style looking book store. When I first entered I really liked the feel of the place. I could see that it went back for quite a ways but I was shocked how big the store was and how comprehensive and diverse their collection. I was even more surprised to find out that there is an even bigger location downtown. I'm looking forward to checking that one out! But at this spot on Hawthorne they had some great sales and a great selection to choose from.

A much smaller version of the flagship store, but it has the same vibe and great books. They have a good selection of games too, which the kids liked.

Smaller then Powell's on Burnside, but doesn't lack any of the charm, character or amazing inventory. This store is just as great but offers less hustle and bustle or crowds.

Well if you don't get the chance to go to the massive Powells downtown try our local version, still too many books to read!

I challenge you to spend less than an hour in this store. Can't be done. And trust me, I've been there for much longer than that. My favorite thing about Powell's is their used book collection, and the fact that they're not separated into a different section.

Best book store in the world. I even incorporated it into a scavenger hunt for visiting students; AWESOME!!

I enjoyed browsing around throughout this interesting Powell's bookstore with a home and garden theme. My son ended up with some cute gold dragon object, while I traversed the maze-like layout of this relatively small space and took a peak through the direct connection into Pastaworks.

I came out of the store with the impression that this place was a little too cute and specialty for me. And as Gayle might point out, I'm no master gardener or even a good cook (although I can handle pasta). The Powell's bookstore and coffee shop just down the block probably fits in better with my particular metrosexual style.
