Prime One Twelve is one of Miami Beach’s most famous restaurants—athletes love it, celebs love it, carnivores and business types with fat expense accounts can’t get enough of it. One of the perks of staying at Prime Hotel, next door to the steakhouse (and above the overflow dining room and bar) is that you can order room service from Prime One Twelve—or from its sister restaurants Prime Italian and Big Pink, which does huge portions of classic diner dishes. Prime has just 14 rooms that feel like your fabulous friend’s crash pad, with flatscreens, top-of-the line espresso makers and framed retro posters on the walls. The hotel’s small size is a bonus when you want to hang out in a cabana by the rooftop pool—most of the time you’ll have the space to yourself. Being in the affluent, quiet South of Fifth neighborhood only adds to the rock star appeal.

After wandering around aimlessly, trying multiple different entrances, I was finally shown through a dining area to Prime Hotel's small front desk. It was rather tricky to find and, I'm sure, further complicated by a restaurant full of people at night. I was just lucky enough to arrive at an odd hour. However, once found, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is small, but the contemporary rooms feature comfortable beds, large balconies and spacious bathrooms. The hotel is also home to Miami's famous Prime 112 Steakhouse. In fact, you might even say that this is a restaurant first and a hotel second. However, the hotel is not compromised by the restaurant. Instead, they vibe off of each other. The people watching is definitely some of the best in Miami.

Lovely boutique hotel, just a half block back from the beach. The entire downstairs is a gorgeous wine bar and lounge. Rooms are spacious and filled with light. But what I really love here is the rooftop pool and deck. Sure, half of the hotels in Miami have rooftop pools, but with this building being only a couple of stories high, you feel very connected to the surrounding art deco neighborhood and the lively club scene going on across the street at Nikki Beach. And everything is stark white, like a Greek isle! This is a beautiful place and has just the right tempo in terms of being a slightly tucked away refuge of relaxation, with all the action you could ever want just a short walk away. Only negative is that the WiFi is a bit unreliable.
