Aztec Willie is one of the main places to go salsa dancing in Portland. The dance floor is large enough to accommodate a substantial amount of swinging hipped dancers. The music is a mix of reggaeton, salsa, merengue, and bachata. They also offer salsa lessons too.

Portland's giant arena is beautiful, well-designed, and makes every effort to maximize audience experience no matter what seats you can afford. Parking is convenient and cheap (relative to many California arenas, that is), and though the food is expensive, at least it's good. This is one of my favorite indoor places on the West Coast to see a major act.

Wild! A mall with an ice rink right in the center of the mall! I've never seen anything like it! As you can see in my postcard it's a three story mall with a food court and movie theater on top and the ice rink on the bottom right in the center. Wow!

I attended a Convention here last week and had a nice time with professional friends, various presentations and exhibits, and the roomy, well-lit, and eco-friendly facilities. The OCC did a good job of accommodating our needs and welcoming us to the Rose City. It's also a big plus that the facility is close to Downtown and TriMet accessible. That led ...

Some serious elbow bending is done here. This windowless, free standing structure is designed to keep the chaos in and the temperance out. Drinks are strong and cheap, and the bartenders are down to earth and friendly. Two pool tables and a few video games provide low key distractions, and some booths provide comfort. Like all Portland bars, hot and ...

Portland is such an active outdoorsy place, it's no surprise that locals love to go bouldering. An excellent, newer, enhanced version of the original bouldering Circuit Gym, which is based in the SW of Portland. There are more walls and problems to climb. Due to the new facility, it can get crowded so you might have to wait before you ...

This is where you will find the Blaze playing a mighty fine basketball game at Modacenter stadium. It is only minutes away from downtown which can be easy access with local transportation such as the light rails, buses, or even dare to walk. Here you'll find half of the people watching a live game and having a good time. Make ...

Portland Rock Gym is the main place to go for top rope climbing. The gym also has a small bouldering wall. The walls are long and vast. There's a section for the beginning climbers, but most of the routes are intermediate or difficult.

The best thing about Portland. This is the largest independent new/used bookstore on the planet and encompasses a whole city block! The selection of used books here is absolutely astounding, and you can often find things here that aren't even available on Amazon. There's also a coffee shop on site, and you're allowed to bring in books and flip through ...

Don't write this place off as too touristy. It's really relaxing and they often have tea tastings where they explain the history of the tea.

Last five hours in Portland after a busy work weekend. Had to revisit Pearl district and I really love the area. Filled with caf├ęs, shops, brick and cobblestone. So much charm to stroll through and the Portland wet cold somehow makes it all the more charming.

The recently gentrified Alberta Street is one of the most popular places in town to shop, eat, and people-watch. It's at its liveliest on the last Thursday of every summer month, when the lively "Last Thursday" street fair is held. Local artisans looking to make a buck line both sides of the street with their arts and crafts, and buskers ...

The Portlandia Statue is featured in the opening credits of IFC's hit show "Portlandia." Designed by sculptor, Raymond Kaskey and installed in 1985, the statue looms prominently above the entrance of the Portland Building. The statue measures at 34 feet and features a woman who extends her hand. The large size and design ensures Portlandia remains an iconic symbol of ...
