Crazy as a Harajuku dress-up doll, this doughnut shop brings sugary insanity to a whole new level. Geometric shapes, bizarre flavors and neon colors will wake you up with a bang. Worth going out of your way for anytime you're in the South Bay, definitely.

Psycho Donuts lives up to its name. The donut flavors are outrageous and the calories are insane. But they've got fun and different going for them. They make things like apricot fritters and Captain Crunch covered donuts.

My dad the donut maker would have been baffled by Psycho Donuts' creations, some of which are closer to pastries than donuts. Large enough to split 2 or 3 ways. They are evilly delicious. An occasional treat only, but what fun!

The concept of this place is crazy/sexy/cool, and the owners and manager are too. The donuts are hard to love unless you were one of those kids who used to take all the sweets you could get your hands on in your mom's kitchen, crumble it all up, dump it into a bowl, add more sugar, and eat it with a ladle.
The padded cell was a fun photo op, and the local artwork on the walls added a funky touch. The names of the donuts were creative = Bipolar is half coco/nut.
Of the three donuts we tried, my favorite was the banana cream pie, with the Butterfinger one a close second. It may have been because we got there later in the evening, but they all were a little stale. I could understand this as all the toppings might get soggy if they're added on while the donut is still warm.
These donuts are great for a themed party, or if you are a donut fanatic. I love sweets, but even these are too sweet for me.

I try to avoid donuts for a number of reasons, but when I do decided to indulge, I tend to flock to Psycho Donuts. It has a "psycho" theme to it, with padded walls, nurses and all. The donuts are themed and often change with fun local events (like Lady Gaga coming to town). My personal favorite was the "Nutella the Hun." Yes, Nutella fans, it is as good as it sounds. The donuts may be a little sugary, but sometimes that's what you need to hit the spot.
