San Juan is so picturesque. SO many colors everywhere, and historic old buildings all around. It was a dream. Old San Juan is very walkable, with many things to do and see. Ask the locals for the best Puero Rican restaurant rather than eating near the tourist traps. And go to one of the old forts. So much history!

Rincon is beautiful, laid-back, friendly and inexpensive - a fun community full of travelling surfers and local fishermen. It was easy to navigate via car and has plenty of places to stay, eat and play. We were based out of Rincon for several days and explored the coast up to Isabella during the day. Thoroughly loved i!!. Local grocery stores ...

I've been to other bioluminescent spots, but never seen it this dense and bright. We loved the area, with quaint shops and restaurants nearby. El Yunque Rainforest was also nearby, and ended up being our favorite spot.

See Vieques note. Culebra is even less developed. Flamenco Beach is its crown jewel, a breathtaking mile-long arc of pale sand.

Not a great city, but a good jumping off place for lots of activities. Far enough west that it makes Rincon, Guanica, and other costal cities very accessible. There are great hikes and trips around Mayaguez - there is amazing jungle and rainforest there! Music and activities in the city center around Christmas time, but otherwise not much going on.
