Some of them include Whale Watching, Swimming with the Dolphins (I highly recommend this) and boat trips to various islands, snorkeling, etc. It's a great way to get a feel for this wonderful paradise on earth. Fun spot to go dancing. They have a nice sky deck to hang out on if it gets too crowded on the main dance floor. A good mix of tourists and locals who like to party.

    Playa de los Muertos

Great little hidden beach. You have to walk through a bit of jungle to get there, but you get to walk past a sweet old cemetary (de los muertos). Once you get there, you can climb big rocks and see blue footed boobies. A nice get-away from the get-away.

    Bahia de Banderas

    11 reviews

Bahia de Banderas is the tranquil bay that Puerto Vallarta sits on. Underwater, it's a whole other place--teeming with animal and plant life. The best way to really see it is on an organized tour with one of the dive shops, or tour operators, in town. A recommended outfit is vallarta-adventures.com--they do a little bit of everything outdoorsy.

Set in the Sierra Madre mountains, this research center/nature park is a great change of pace from the beach. It's located about 12 miles south of PV and has a huge range of plants--from orchids to wild palms. It can get hot and buggy though so remember to bring bug repellant, a hat, and your bathing suit (there's a river ...
