This hotel is a gem, through and through. It’s not the most spacious hotel around, but its size felt more quaint than restrictive. The luxurious lobby—with its high ceiling, marble floors, palm plants, and chandeliers—immediately exudes class. I found the staff to be quite helpful to boot.
Not only are the rooms comfortable, but they also come stocked with microwaves and electric shoe-buffers. What a nice touch, especially for business travelers who have to trek through the wet streets during winter. There’s a café next to the lobby if guests don’t want to head out, but there are tons of places to dine, shop, and drink in the vicinity. As an added bonus, the rooftop lounge (Drumbar) offers fantastic views of the city and upscale cocktails.

You can't beat a hotel with a donut shop in the lobby, right?
From the expansive guest rooms to the public restrooms in the lobby, this place is impeccably designed and decorated. I loved the green and brown color scheme in the room which, on a cold day in January, felt warm and bright. The living area in the suite is huge--great for lounging around and watching TV before you head out for the day.
There's an Italian restaurant next door and a whiskey bar upstairs. Both look great and I was disappointed that I didn't have time to check them out.

Location, amenities, and a killer bar—the Raffaello has it all. This place drips with luxury, from the grand red brick building to the marble lobby to the in-room personal shoeshine machines. And even though the hotel is located literally next door to the John Hancock Center and the Mag Mile, the truth is you don't even need to leave the building to get a taste of some of the best of Chicago—try some of the city's top doughnuts at the Glazed and Infused located right in the lobby, or head up to the 18th floor to Drumbar, consistently recognized as one of the best bars in Chicago.

The Raffaello brings Glazed and Infused and drumBAR all in one building. If that's not enough of a selling point, I don't now what is?! But seriously, this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. From the marble floors to the large, hanging chandelier, the Raffaello screams luxury. Even the red brick exterior is beautiful. My favorite view was looking down on the lobby from the second floor balcony. There's a fitness center and spa on the second floor that looked like the ultimate relaxation station.
Gold duvets add an extra touch of opulence to the rooms, which offer great views of the Hancock Tower and a lot of closet space. The rooms themselves are very spacious and look very modern in their decor.
You must, MUST grab cocktails on the drumBAR rooftop or head down the street to the Hancock Tower's Signature Lounge.

This place is beautiful. The lobby is marble with a giant chandelier. The rooms are awesome. They have anything you could ever want in a room: A microwave, a Keurig, a programmable safe, modern furniture. The bathrooms are spacious. The fitness center is well-maintained, and packed with anything a fitness person could want, complete with a spa. There’s a bar, Drumbar, on the 18th floor with an outdoor patio that overlooks the downtown area. And they serve breakfast there with Glazed and Infused doughnuts (Glazed and Confused doughnuts are amazing – reason enough to stay here). The only problem anyone has ever had here, the Bellman told me, is that sometimes the elevators take a little while. It’s not a huge issue. I didn’t have a problem with it. They’re just not ideal if you’re being chased or have to go to the bathroom. But then just use the bathroom in the spa. This place is great.
