If you find yourself in Altoona, Pennsylvania you'll soon notice that there are two things this area is well known for. First will likely be the numerous Sheetz convenient stores/gas stations here. This successful chain was started in Altoona, and now operates more than 30 stores around the area. Secondly, and perhaps more noteworthy, is the huge number of railroad infrastructure here. In fact, Altoona was one of the most popular railroad junctions in America during the late 19th and early 20th century. To honor this distinction, the Altoona Railroad Museum was constructed. Admittedly not an overly exciting attraction (unless you are a die-hard rail-fan) Altoona's deep history promises to fill her museum with a wide variety of attractions that should hold the interest of any fan of history. Even if you're not too into railroads, the before mentioned other option in Altoona is hardly a proper back up plan. Go ahead and check out this historic Railroad Museum.
