As zoos go, this one is pretty good. There's also a historic carousel on site for the kids. You could spend several hours here and not see it all, so plan accordingly if you're traveling with restless ... read more
kids. The zoo is located on the ocean side of the city, so you can combine the zoo trip with an oceanside drive or a brief excursion to the Pacific "beach".

Since the zoo is close to the ocean, it is usually chillier than the rest of the city, so dress your kids in the appropriate layers! Same goes with the ocean beaches- they are quite frigid, but your kids will probably want to see the ocean anyway (unless you're from Hawaii or somewhere beachy like that :-) ).

spend a full day here. The grass roof is designed to look like a piece of the park was lifted up and the museum slipped underneath. If you can, go during the week and beat the crowds. This place is packed on weekends.
