Raleigh is a lovely and historic city. Several nice restaurants with very friendly staff. Unfortunately smoking is popular everywhere. Not a lot of night life but the scenery is fantastic.

Possibly my favorite city in the USA and i am not American. Its peaceful quite a and Clean. The population is small. The city is green with lots of Trees. I Love that. The people are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is great. If you want a relaxing and easy getaway this is the place for you. There is a bit of everything from nature sites to clubs and good museum and restaurants but not too much too make the city and its environs busy.

As the capital of North Carolina, Raleigh isn't the largest city in the state but it a gem when it comes to settling down. Ranked as one of the best cities to live in year after year, Raleigh has one of nation's best education system, lowest crime rate, and very affordable living costs.

Description

Known as the "City of Oaks" Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, was named after Sir Walter Raleigh, the 17th Century English soldier and adventurer who was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I. Blessed with plenty of museums, Raleigh is also part of the "Research Triangle" with Durham and Chapel Hill, due to the presence of major universities like Duke and NC State. Many parks, a presence on the National Historic Register due to Fayetteville Street, a the large Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts and a good quality of life make Raleigh an inviting part of the American South to visit.
