I just like the location. For a hotel that has conference rooms and is near the expo center, I-5, Vancouver, and PDX, it's where I'd want to stay. It's cavernous and does feel like the hotel in The Shining when it's not full, which I suspect is often, but it has an outdoor pool, which is rare in the area, a view of the Colombia river, Mt. St. Helen's on a clear day, and Mt. Hood. You can also see house boats from the deck in the restaurant. The rooms are nothing special, and the place just feels like an empty hotel, but there are tennis courts and it's the same price as all the little hotels near the airport. It's so dated it's almost cool again. I'd pay the $10 more for the rooms on the river side.

This hotel is not only huge, loud and unpleasant, it is also feels like it belongs in the 70’s!
This is primarily, it appears, a business convention hotel that caters for huge events as its main focus. The Front desk staff seemed jaded and overwhelmed by the mediocrity of it all and they appeared uninterested. In a sense I don’t blame them as this is a nightmare of a hotel that requires extensive renovation and modernization to our era! It feels dirty even though it may not be!
The main attraction appears to be a dock on which you can tie up your boat for your dinner reservation at the restaurant.
The rooms are quite nice with the usual amenities including wifi and in-room safe, but the noise permeating from the mass of people here is distressing. This is not a place for a quiet getaway for a romantic weekend, so don’t get trapped here unless your employer needs you to attend a convention!

I was recently asked in a survey to describe my worst ever customer service experience, and my visit to this Red Lion is the first thing that came to mind. I remember standing, unacknowledged, at the front desk for over 10 minutes while people answered phones and generally ignored the growing line of customers waiting until they finally came up and asked me if I was next in line, sans"hello" or "how can I help you."
As for the rooms, they are clean and well-maintained but the walls must be made out of plywood--you can hear every person who walks by as if they were in the room next to you.
The interiors are hideous and look like they haven't had a refurb since the early 1980s.
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that they have a boat dock, so if you happen to have a boat you can dock it here while you eat at the restaurant. The restaurant staff are also quite sweet and polite, and should really be leading trainings for the incredibly low-caliber hotel staff.
