This place is on a good street for food and night life, and it's also close to the Bukit Bintang LRT stop so it's easy to get around the city from here. Inside it feels cool and a little bit calmer than some of the other hostels in Kuala Lumpur. Also, the staff are easy to talk to. You take your shoes off outside, so the floors inside are clean and there are two entrance gates, so there aren't a lot of random people coming and going like in some of the other hostels/budget hotels in the city. There's a free simple breakfast, and fruit, coffee, and tea are kept out all day in the little kitchen. There's laundry service, a large book exchange and a big stack of DVD's. The veranda area is a nice place to eat or hang out at night. There's no sign, but you can find this place because it's across the street from a boutique hotel called Number Eight.

RED PALM is an old time backpackers' guesthouse. I know the owner personally. It's been running more than ten years as i remember, and it's writen up well in The LP and other guide books. The thing is, you need to book in advance usually; the price for a dorm bed has increased to Rm 30.00 so i think other guesthouse such as STEP INN are now cheaper. They only have a few rooms so are often fully booked. The place is definitely nice; the owner and staff are helpful. The place is secure and in the center of Bukit Bintang. Heaven for food, nights out, and shopping.Recommended for:Backpackers

Good place to stay. The warm friendly staff is very easy to chat with. One thing i don't understand is that the location to the place is easy to be found but i missed it twice because to actually spot the place you need to have a very keen eyes at the building. The airconditioner only opens from 7pm till the next morning. There is a lot of books and DVDs to fill up your time. There is a reading corner which has a comfortable couch and a small TV. The place is really comfy but the hostel is not like other hostels which has high traffic of travellers who want to get in and party. It's more like a seclusive hostel with a calm ambience. The beds is clean and tidy. Comparing to some of the other hostels this place is much better because there is a place for you to hangout inside and also outside. Still the price is sometimes a factor when you are staying in a hostel because even a dollar difference would make an impact.

A little guesthouse / hostel run by one of the most friendly proprietors you'll ever meet. The staff will invite you to eat with them and they'll have the restaurant next door literally give you food over the dividing wall. Clean linens and air conditioning works wonderfully.
