Most amazing concert venue ever!
an hour from the house- go early to hike, and make dinner reservations at Ship Rock Grille (they are always full)
don't miss the museum in the basement
I am not a big music fan, and dislike concerts in general, but this place is amazing and we see at least one event every year.
Take rain gear (just in case), but that is true for all travels in Colorado.

Without a doubt the best place on earth to see a show. As the sun goes down and the lights of the city click on magic is made.

Red Rocks is an important piece of Colorado's music heritage. This natural amphitheater is created by a number of massive boulders from the western foothills. In the summer Red Rocks concerts are huge draws as thousands come out to see a twilight concert.

Small enough to see the band, yet expansive enough to feel impressive, Red Rocks is one of the world's ultimate open-air venues to see a show. Every time I walk into the amphitheater, I have to catch my breath - partly because of the intense hike necessary to get there and partly because of the stunning view. It almost doesn't matter whether I like the band or not; the natural beauty of the place combined with the feeling that music is being played in the middle of nowhere just for you is emotionally overwhelming enough. No matter where you live, I recommend making the trip to see a show at Red Rocks at some point in your lifetime.

You will find few places in the world as spectacular as Red Rocks Ampitheatre to experience a concert. The natural acoustics make the sound incredible. Built during the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corp, I am amazed every time I visit. Invariably the band playing will comment on what a thrill it is for them to play at Red Rocks. If you are in the area and there is not a scheduled concert, head up and for free you can check out the stage and even sing if you feel like it. I have seen numerous people perform just to get a feel of what it must be like to have thousands of adoring fans cheering for you! One other special tip: Red Rocks is the best free workout spot in the metro area! During warm weather, personal trainers will be leading grueling workout to groups of sweaty athletes. I head up with a friend and we push each other, running the stairs or the bleachers.
