I stayed here in March, in the middle of winter when it snowed for almost my entire stay. The hotel is only about a 10 minute ride from the airport, but a good 40 minutes away from any of the attractions in Istanbul. Because of it's location, it most attracts business people that have rental cars or can expense cab rides. The hotel also serves a lot of flight crews as well. If you are in Istanbul to visit, then this is not a good hotel option for you because of the location. The hotel does provide a limited shuttle service that will take you into town and has certain pick up times to return to the hotel. However, the last pickup time is around 5pm so it doesnt really allow you to enjoy the cities restaurants or bars. The lobby of the Polat is quite refined and elegant with marble finishes. The rooms felt a little outdated to me and need a lighting improvement. The room also felt a little small for my liking. The one nice thing about the rooms is that they have good views of the sea. The staff all spoke English quite well and the concierge is quite helpful in telling you about different tourist spots and restaurant options. They also are able to book you on a handful of day tours that are quite economical. I used the hotel to book a cruise on the bospherous that was really nice.

This is a great hotel, i recommend it for a holiday or business trip. The price is a little bit hight, but you won't regret it. All rooms are very clean and spacious, some of them offer a sew view.

The Renaissance Polat is not really for tourists. Located out in Yesilyurt closer to the airport than anything else, it's more fitting for business travelers and conferences. That being said, the hotel has an amazing view of the Sea of Marmara and because of the sound proofing of the windows, you can watch--but not hear--airplanes land.
The hotel is essentially a tower with an impressive lobby. The staff speak excellent English and most of the guests are foreigners so you will feel right at home. There is a wide variety of rooms but most enjoy a good view of some kind.
