Residence Inn Portland Downtown / RiverPlace, a Marriott Hotel

2115 SW River Parkway, Portland, OR 97201
5 reviews

The location on the waterfront is good, especially for running or walking in the evening or mornings. It is a little bit close to I-5 where it crosses the river from the west to the east side, so rooms closer to the freeway might also have a view of the Wilamette River. There's a free appetizer/dinner hour in the early ...

    Pioneer Courthouse Square

0.99 mi from Residence Inn Portland Downtown / RiverPlace, a Marriott Hotel
    36 reviews

The square is very popular during lunch for the locals. Street vendors provide food, the steps fill up fairly quickly on nice days and there was music or juggling or some type of entertainment each of the 5 days we spent in Portland visiting. Good example of Portland's emphasis on urban development for their citizen's use.

This long, narrowish park on the west side of the Willamette River is a fantastic place for strolling, people-watching, bridge-viewing, or having a picnic on a beautiful day - or on a day when the cherry blossoms are blooming. During the summer, there often are also events, markets, and street performers in this park - and it's always close to ...

A nice, museum with interesting art exhibits. When I went, the curator provided a lively tour of the Asian art exhibits. I felt like I was getting an introductory lesson on ancient Asian history. Also, I really dig the leaning sailboats as pieces of art.

Of course the Portlandia Statue is one of Portland's great tourist attractions. It not really all that much to see but regardless for Portland it really is a must see!

In Portland it's easy to take a bridge walk and I've taken 4 over my several trips to the Rose City. Here are my stories....(Cue the Law and Order Clang). The Hawthorne Bridge (built in 1910) is a truss bridge with a vertical lift that spans the Willamette River. It joins Hawthorne Boulevard and Madison Street and is the oldest ...

I did my undergad here and loved the mix of students. A lot of older people and returning students in the classes here, which keeps younger traditional students on their toes (at least it did in my case). Excellent urban studies program and a lot of international events.

As far as Goodwill stores go, this one is pretty awesome. It is giant. This store is like five Goodwill all in one location.
