I was a girl on a mission: I wanted to take my friends, who had let my sister and me stay in their Paris apartment, out to dinner. I wanted to thank them properly and needed to impress – they were native Parisians. But my budget didn't allow for La Tour d'Argent or L'Arpège. I found this restaurant in the Michelin guide and booked a table. The restaurant fit the bill in every way: We went on a Monday and arrived to find the dining room full, a good sign for a typically slow night. The four of us ordered different dishes – scallops, guinea fowl, and steak. For dessert, ice cream. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The wine list had many solid choices at reasonable prices. Stone walls and warm lighting made for a cheerful and cozy atmosphere, and the young staff were very friendly. We all had a great time, and our dinner here is one of my fondest travel memories.
Reviews on major sites such as TripAdvisor have been mixed, with most travelers saying it was excellent or very good but others calling it overpriced, overcrowded, and subpar. My experience was of a typical Parisian restaurant that was a step above a bistro and still relatively easy on the wallet.
