The Science Center was a big part of my childhood and how I began my love with Balboa Park. Luckily in elementary school I was taken on field trips here on many occasions and even with my family when they'd come into town. There is a wonderful exploration and learning area that is so interesting and full of hands-on activities. Funny mirrors, play with static electricity and plenty other exhibits that are fun for children and adults alike. The best however is the giant Imax theater that is shaped like a giant golf ball. Watching the movie with a 360-view is amazing and really an experience! I highly recommend this for children and also adults who have an interest in science!

If you have kids in your group they will really like the science museum at the center. It's full of interactive stuff for them to experiment with! You will also like the cafes just outside with awesome scenery of the park and plenty of tables and chairs to relax and enjoy!

This science center is a nerd's paradise. Perfect for curious dweebs like me who love learning about how "stuff works," including pendulums, electricity, magnetic fields, and even our own bodies. Colorful displays and interactive attractions make up stimulating exhibits perfect for visitors of every age. Kids will have fun touching everything in sight (because it's meant to be touched), while enormous models of the galaxy loom overhead to create the perfect ambience. Stop in at the IMAX theater and catch a short documentary, lead electric pulses around a globe with your finger, or watch a ball roll uphill - you can do it all here.

They have a really nice program where other astronomers bring their telescopes at night the first Wednesday (i think.. you'll have to check to make sure). You watch "Sky tonight" which gives you some informative info on stars, constellations, galaxies, etc. It's an interesting night, especially if you like looking up to the sky. Astronomy is very interesting... I think.

We came here with my daughter, a couple of friends, and our friend's son and it was enjoyable for everyone. My daughter enjoyed the "aging machine" to see what she might look like when she is "old" like us and everyone enjoyed the large variety of science and space related exhibits.
