    You'll need to hike a few hours to really enjoy the site and go to the middle, the place where the Althing took place. If you don't have the time , just walk a bit and see where Europe and America magma plates are touching, impressive to see.

    The real heart of Reykjavik. Around Austurvöllur square stand both Alþingi the Parliament and Domkirkjan the Cathedral. The statue is of Jon Sigurðsson who is celebrated as the men behind Iceland becoming an independent country. Austurvöllur is the place were the locals come to enjoy the sun on a sunny day
