Scuola Grande Arciconfraternita di San Rocco

    0.2 mi from Ribot
    12 reviews

Tintoretto designed the majority of this beautiful scuola, even sneaking in one night to paint an entire mural in order to win a competition. Filled with dark wood, red velvet, and gold trim, the dark interior is a classic example of the Venetian chiaroscuro technique.

    Ponte della Costituzione

    0.16 mi from Ribot
    11 reviews

The latest bridge by the acclaimed architect Santiago Calatrava made quiet a debate, since its glass steps are slippery in winter, and steel handrail becomes burningly hot in summer, but I can deny that its fishbone inspired architecture is interesting and stands out of the other traditional stone bridges. Worth the crossing and the photographs :P

It is one beautiful corner of Venice, very close to Piazzale Roma. If the weather is fine you could take something to eat at the small bar at the corner of the Campo and sit here on the stairs ( as students in the photo). The church creates a really fantastic atmosphere.

This clothes shops for women is a small jewell. Furniture is fantastic. The main elements are wood and copper. It is so small that everything must be stored in a perfect way. Clothes are really romantic and feminine, in light colours mainly. Staff is really kind.

Boudoir is the place to buy eyewear in Venice. Both eyeglasses and sunglasses are really cool, model you've probably never seen anywhere else, because the owner does not choose the common fashion brands, but just real eyewear brands by design and quality. Here often you can find niche perfumes and other things, as gift ideas, jewellery, bags and purses.

Basilica di San Marco Assunta di Torcello - Campanile

    0.17 mi from Ribot
    1 review

Torcello is according to a few sources where the original Venetians settled. Now the island is mostly abandoned save for a few buildings for tourists and an ancient church complex. It has an eerie, haunted quality about it that makes it much different from the other two big islands that are usually used for day trips. It's farther out than ...

    Piazza San Marco

    0.85 mi from Ribot
    168 reviews

Piazzo San Marco was once called "the finest dining room of Europe" by Napoleon. What it is is a large square where people gather to look at the beautiful structures and touristy restaurants. Beware of pickpocketers. That said, go ahead and do the touristy thing if it's your first time here and wander over. It's cool to see history.

The Rialto Bridge was built in the late 16th century, and is rather unique in that it was designed to allow Venetian warships to sail underneath the bridge. If you want a great view of the Grand Canal, this is the place to go.

The Grand Canal is the main waterway that leads through Venice. I think you can get the most beautiful view at Grand Canal from Rialto Bridge, when it's getting dark and they turn on the lights. It's beautiful, like on a postcard!

One of the best ways to experience Venice is in a boat. I've done it in a taxi and in a Gondola and both were incredible. There's no other way to really see all of the architecture and beautiful decay of this city.

The Palazzo Ducale (or Doge's Palace) was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the top boss during the days of the Republic of Venice. Located in St. Mark's Square, it's one of the most prominent buildings visible while going down the Grand Canal, mostly because it's completely flooded by tourists (no pun intended). Constructed between the 14th and 15th ...
