One of Portland’s best-kept secrets, the relatively anonymous and surprisingly luxurious River's Edge Hotel & Spa is a quiet, low-key place to stay only a 5-10 min drive from downtown Portland. The rooms are spacious and elegant and have stylish bathrooms with tubs. The hotel is spread over five floors and many of the rooms here have views of the Willamette River. There’s also a spa, a large 24-hour exercise room, and a riverside jogging trail. Guests get free access to the steam/sauna/whirlpool area of the spa (men and women separate, clothing optional).
The only major drawback of this place is that despite the fact that it’s in a quiet part of town, there’s virtually no free street parking (odd in Portland), so you are pretty much forced to take advantage of their valet parking.

Stayed at this boutique hotel. Found it quite charming. Cleanliness is a huge plus for me, this hotel was definitely clean. Went through Oregon on our way to Whistler. If you're into the spa like feel, check this out.

This place is everything you’d expect from a luxury hotel and spa, it’s situated on the Willamette waterfront, has valet-only parking, and has a waterfall IN the lobby. It’s luxurious. Not to be un-grounded and as any true Portlander can appreciate, the hotel is eco-friendly as well (it’s LEED certified). The rooms are modern and classy without being too overdone, each with king size beds, beautiful bathrooms, and many with balconies with views of Mt. Hood and downtown Portland. I forgot all about sleeping accommodations when I saw the amenities though- this is a true place to center yourself with massages, soaks and body treatments, facials, a gym, and salon. If you can make it outside the hotel, being close to downtown Portland and the Northeast and Southeast divisions, it’s location is conducive to just as much fun in the city as in the hotel itself.
