We were misled by our hotel agency: budjet.com to have a room with separated beds, a night before our arrival in my correspondence with them, they wrote that the room picture was a random photo, and the word bed/s does not refer to a possibility of separate beds. We were devastated, a mother and son (23) we did not want to share one bed. On contrary, The hotel was extremely nice and understanding, found a solution. And more, this is a most comfortable, clean, well located and pleasant hotel you can find in New York in a reasonable price.Recommended for:

With the feel more of a dorm than a hotel, this upscale hostel, budget hotel, suits the needs of any traveler to NYC on a budget. The front desk welcomes you with a friendly smile and will kindly attend to any of your needs in the cozy room. A/C, microwaves, refrigerators, and a private bathroom are all accommodations in the standard room. A business center with a communal bookshelf is a nice touch and good way to meet other guests. Rates are reduced for monthly stays, making Riverside Hotel a nice place to stay for a summer internship or extended visit to NYC (fully furnished/no utilities = great deal!). For those seeking a good deal, and a convenient location, Riverside Hotel is a great option.Recommended for:

I feel like I've stepped in time and entered my grandma's home...10 years ago, if she lived in an apartment building. If you're looking for a typical New Yorker experience, so someone without a lot of money, this place is quite comparable. There's a laundry room (but don't forget to get quarters if you need to use them), rooms have a flat-screen TV, a bathroom, microwave, mini-fridge and a hairdryer. Here's the difference though: there's a business center with a computer you can use (but you have to pay to use it) but sodas and snacks can be found on the second floor.
The location is a bit calmer and you're right by the water which is nice. And if you get bored of the area, you're very close to the 1 train for a quick getaway.Recommended for:
