Absolutely amazing hike. Takes you up the mountain with breathtaking views of the coast south of Carmel. We saw tons of whales while we were hiking, and were fortunate enough to see a California condor hanging out on a rock perch just off the trail. It's pretty steep on the way up - so wear good shoes. The trailhead is ...

This is not a normal beach. This beach is primarily for SCUBA diving. I say this not to imply that the divers are possessive of it, but as a warning that it is a very unsafe beach for casual passersby to stop and try to swim in. The beautiful large grain sand beach is visible from highway 1, and tired ...

Nice little history museum built inside an actual whaling cabin. It's not overly expansive, but has some nice exhibits and offers an intellectual diversion while hiking or diving at Point Lobos.

A truly great aquarium, my favorite in the world. I love the huge kelp tank, and the area with the shorebirds that has real waves. The jellyfish are fascinating. What's really special is that it's located right on the beach, and you can walk out on the patios and look out at the ocean. For my most recent visit I ...

The 17-Mile Drive along Pebble Beach is a must do. The scenic views along the coast are beautiful, especially during the morning fog as it burns off, or during sunset as the sky color changes.

Cannery Row in Monterey was made famous by John Steinbeck. Cannery Row, his 1945 novel, immortalizing the fishing industry here at its peak. The catch went from 235,000 tons in 1945 to just 15,000 tons in 1948, causing the collapse of the canneries here and a way of life for generations of residents. Today, these canneries have been renovated into ...

It's tricky getting to this beach and it's one road so you have to becareful with incoming traffic. There are rocks to climb but be very cautious because you can fall and get injured. This place can be quite windy, but definitely a secret beach that very few people may know.

Beautiful spot. We took a mile long hike through wildflowers and scatterings of monarch butterflies out to a beautiful beach. Beautiful stretch of natural coastline. Pebble Beech is more known for golf courses than nature, but it's hard to not feel the call of the wild at this spectacular vantage point. The tree itself is not extraordinary - particularly as Monterey cypress abound in this area - but the view certainly is.
