I only walked around the area, didn't get to go inside it-- but the Roman Forum is still pretty darn cool looking. Recommended to go inside or just view it through the gates if you're walking by, if you can.

If you eat out only once in Rome, make sure it's here. This place is an institution and deservedly so. Run by the Porcelli family for three generations, it just oozes atmosphere. Meat and fish dishes are equally good, complemented by a decent wine list.

    Al Moro

    0.67 mi from Roman Forum

Al Moro has the best Spaghetti alla moro and Spaghetti alle telline! I love just walking into the restaurant - the old world charm, wood panelled walls and people so elegantly dressed. The communal tables are fun and the crowd is a mix of regulars and tourists ( which is always a good sign). It is so delish!!

    Der Pallaro

    0.72 mi from Roman Forum

Paola and Giovanni Fazi have been serving Roman comfort food for over forty years. It's a fixed menu, a full Roman lunch. Paula's homemade potato chips, are justly famous, crisp and chewy with a taste of fresh olive oil. "What you eat the kitchen decides." This is a charming, informal Roman eatery and the proprietors have been dedicated to the ...

Friendly service and a huge selection of baked goods makes Il Fornaio a great spot for to-go food near the Campo de' Fiori. I picked up some sort of hearty cheese-covered bread and a supplì for 5,84 euros. Obviously my eyes were larger than my stomach, because I was thoroughly stuffed. While it's not the best pizza and supplì around, ...

The setting: the 16th-century Palazzo Lantante della Rovere with its gorgeously frescoed high ceilinged dining room. The food: French (apparently). The entertainment: this is where it all turns a bit surreal - singing nuns, who interrupt the dinner service for some devotional songs. I'm not sure they're real nuns as I saw some of them being met outside by husbands ...

    Romolo nel Giardino della Fornarina

    1.0 mi from Roman Forum

Despite my undying love of Italian food, I have never been a huge fan of gnocchi. Romolo completely changed my mind. More specifically, Romolo's pumpkin gnocchi one rainy, autumn night change mind. Set in a beautiful villa with seating both inside and out, Romolo serves traditional, rustic Roman fare that makes you feel like you're at a close friend's dinner ...

Great food. Service was very good. Went there with a 5-year old and she got a special dish. Italians really love kids. Great peaches (summer), super risotto, excellent grilled fish.

The owners of Casa Bleve were originally, and still are, wine merchants and the restaurant reflects that history. The front of the restaurant is a wine shop and in the back, the dining rooms evoke the look of wine cellars. The wine list is, not unexpectedly, excellent and the Italian menu is also excellent. We enjoyed fine dining at its ...

I had wanted to visit this joint for years and finally found a chance to on a recent trip to Rome. Mamma mia, was I happy to have finally made it. This wine bar just off the Via Nazionale has an amazing wine list starting from just 15 euros, and a bar menu which pairs things like swordfish carpaccio with a specific regional olive oil. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and the atmosphere intimate.

I really enjoyed this pizzeria and bakery. I ordered a slice of pizza with artichoke hearts and it was quite delicious. They have an assortment of other baked goods that look equally delicious as well. Service was friendly, and I noticed they speak English and French as well. I loved dining along the bar area, littered with ads for apartments ...

I've probably tried 15 different gelaterias in Europe. Frigidarium is by far, my favorite. They only use all-natural ingredients, meaning absolutely no food coloring, preservatives, or additives. You can get it dipped in white or dark chocolate and topped with a wafer for no extra fee! My favorites were the hazelnut, pistachio, and matcha green tea.
