One of the best collection of Roman ruins that you can find. A good place to start for history buffs that are into the Roman empire. The range of different ruins and the history behind each one will surely leave you in awe.

I know this was the location of the center of the vast and wealthy Roman empire, but to be honest there isn't much left here. You really have to use your imagination.

There's so much to see here. The colosseum, several arches, ruins of old temples, and Caesar's tomb. I loved it.

The Roman Forum is a must see. For one, you can buy tickets to the colosseum there and bypass the ridiculously long lines you would have had to stand in if you had bought tickets at the actual colosseum. Two, the roman forum is so awesome! Much more exciting than the colosseum in my opinion. At the Forum, you walk amongst ancient ruins. You can touch things and sit on ancient columns and explore and get lost. Don't get me wrong, the colosseum is still magnificent and another must see (obvi), but if you skip the Roman Forum you'll really be missing out.

One of the few free Roman attractions in Rome and a good cut through from the Colosseum to Victor Emanuel. I really liked it because of the grandeur of the remains compared to those in the UK.

Was once the centre of the world. You will see why immediately. Behold the grandeur that was Rome. And then have a coffee and people watch, which is what Romans do best.

The Foro di Roma is where all the ancient public buildings used to stand and it's a nice walk to see all the ruins and how large it was. Parts of it are more conserved than others and, for me, the gardens were the most beautiful part of it.

The Roman Forum is a fascinating trip through one sliver of the city's history, though I think it's in the middle of my list of favorite Roman monuments. While it is usually jam packed with tourists, it's great for people who like to let their imaginations take over and fill in the blanks (as the majority of the ruins are pretty much...well, ruined). For those who like taking a tour, I'd save the tour guide for the Colosseum and just rely on a book for the forum.

The Roman Forum are a series of ruins which used to be the government sector of ancient Rome. It's a nice walk and is worth going to observe the architecture of the former buildings, especially if you're a history buff.

Description:

The Roman Forum was the downtown of ancient Roman life, the place to do business, talk politics, or just see and be seen in your toga. Today you can wander through the numerous ruins, including emperor Septimius Severus' triumphal arch, temples to the Vestal Virgins, and the site of Julius Caesar's assassination. A single ticket is available for the Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill.
