    New Testaccio Market

Between Via Galvani and Via Alessandro Volta, Rome 00153 Italy
    5
    7 reviews

The *real Rome* is arguably in Testaccio and Garbatella. At the Mercato di Testaccio, you'll definitely hear your fair share of the guttural Roman accent, whether spoken by Romans or Bangladeshis, plus have the opportunity to buy great fresh food of all kinds.

Monti is an interesting little Roman neighborhood, full of cobblestone streets, great food and wine bars, and very good shopping. Tucked just behind Termini, it's quite central.

    Trevi Fountain

Piazza di Trevi, Rome 00187, Italy
    4.5
    397 reviews

    Colosseum

Piazza del Colosseo 1, 00184 Rome, Italy
    4.5
    506 reviews

Astounding to see in person. It's really hard to describe being here, knowing what happened within the wall of this arena. You should be able to buy a combination ticket at Palatine or the Roman forum that will help skip the long lines at the Colosseum.

    Piazza di Spagna

Piazza di Spagna, Rome 00187 Italy

People watch on the iconic stone steps or stroll through the piazza and splash your face with water from the fountain, or both. Piazza di Spagna is one of Rome's main sights, but it's perfect for budget travelers as a place that can entertain you for an hour, for free. Catch the infiorata in spring, when the steps are covered ...

A serious Roman landmark, the Castel Sant'Angelo is also fun to visit. Peep inside at historical artifacts or see if you can get an invite to one of the events and performances held on the roof.

    Piazza Navona

    Piazza Navona, 00186 Rome, Italy
    4.5
    188 reviews

One of Rome's characteristic piazzas, Piazza Navona has three distinctive fountains, and was once used as a water filled stadium for fake naval battles. It's usually packed with tourists and vendors selling cheesy paintings, but, like much of touristy Rome, maintains an air of mystery and magic late at night.

One of the major Basilicas and Rome and a favorite because the crib of Jesus is found here, I am a Marian devotee and I love the story on how the church was built. It came in a dream and the Blessed Mother said where it will snow buiild the church. It was not winter but it did snow so ...

    Trajan's Column

Via dei Fori Imperiali, 00187 Rome, Italy
    4.5
    23 reviews

This incredible column is inscribed with a spiralling bas-relief which recounts the story of the Emperor Trajan's Dacian wars. Funnily, a statue of St. Peter was plunked atop it in the 16th Century. What I really enjoy about this column is its absolute giant grandeur, as well as the knowledge that you could actually climb up all the way inside ...

One of my favorite plazas in Rome. Far enough away from the main sights to be a bit less touristed. Had lovely architecture and a few pleasant cafes.

Even if you don't buy its great to walk along this fashionable streets where you find famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Ferragamo. Watch out though for the real shop of Gucci because the first shop of the left right after the Spanish Steps is spelled CUCCI which some first timers mistake for the real one.
