Rough Luxe Hotel

Retro derelict-chic kind of place. VERY small, only 6 rooms total. I wanted to like it more, because its a cool concept, but it was just a bit too small. You had to be strategic with where you put your stuff; there just wasn't enough room for ANY suitcase at all. Communal breakfast was nice, and service super friendly. If ...

Love this place! It's perfect for an afternoon of tea, cake and gossip with the girls. This kitch cafe serves everything from tea, coffee, coke floats to cocktails plus sandwichs, cakes and even their own 'Afternoon Tea' speciality if you want to go that extra mile. This place does what it says on the tin - a delightfully tacky spot adorned with flags of all sorts, catering specifically for travellers from all over the world to meet & booze it up!

    Wagamama (Streatham St)

0.91 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel

Overrated. Okay food served in an modernist zen atmosphere. This is now a mega chain. Mom and pop shops just do it better. There just isn't any reason to eat here. That said, I love the name. Ironically, anyone who is "wagamama" probably won't like it.

Good for large groups. You can share a bunch of dishes. It's all communal seating. The shaking beef is quite good. The curries are fine too. There's one in Bloomsbury and one in Soho.

Quirky restaurant come coffee shop with a strong Aussie vibe. It's always heaving especially on a Saturday morning when the locals come out in force for award winning coffee. Try the baked eggs for brunch - yum!

Probably the only "authentic" Mexican restaurant I've been to in London. The extremely fussy BF even tried something completely new and loved it (a rarity and a blessing!). Was nice to have Mexican in London that wasn't just a burrito. Enjoyed it - will be back!

A real gem for afternoon tea - this is the best casual afternoon tea venue around. Skip the fancypants hotel afternoon tea and come to Bea's - the desserts and scones are absolutely fantastic. Cheesecake was light and decadent at the same time. Scone was flavourful and light.

    Lantana Cafe

0.99 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel

Lantana is an aussie cafe that has delicious coffee, friendly staff and wonderful food. It's quite busy at lunch time and it can be tough to get a seat, so come early. If you're a fan of Lantana, head to their sister cafe Salvation Jane in Shoreditch as well.

    Ciao Bella

0.52 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel
    5 reviews

Ciao Bella somehow creates the chaotic crowded atmosphere of an Italian trattoria that paradoxically creates leisure and seclusion for the diner. The waiters are so busy they don't have time to pester you about pudding. The wine list includes some lesser known Italian deliciousness, and the menu is authentic if somewhat anglicized. A great standby, not too pricey, in central ...

This is one of my favourites. The menu switches every now and again. Growing up in the southwest of the U.S., I really missed Mexican food while living in London. Until I discovered Chilango! It's not quite the same as the stuff back home. But it's high quality. My favorites were their tacos and nachos, with black or pinto beans piled high. One complaint - I do remember the salsa was a little ...

    The Fryers Delight

0.69 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel
    3 reviews

You will find various old-school purveyors of fish and chips around London. We like the unassuming nature, great prices, and vintage sign of the Fryers' Delight. Bonus fact: the fish in fish and chips was originally breaded as a means of hygienic transport. The fish would then be "peeled" and eaten almost like a banana.

    The Camden Head

0.95 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel

I visit the Camden Head (just off Upper St.) regularly. Garden and area around the pub is always lively and filled, tables are usually a hot commodity, though there is plenty of standing room. The free comedy on Thursdays is fulled with new acts and is usually pretty easy to get into. However, Saturday is their free professional comedy and ...

    Diwana Bhel Poori House

0.66 mi from Rough Luxe Hotel
    3 reviews

They say that London has great Indian food, but to be honest I was only mildly convinced until I came to Diwana. An extremely casual place near Euston Station, the menu is simple: Pooris (little fried balls filled with potatoes, chick peas, or other treats and covered in a sweetly sour yoghurt sauce) as starters, with a selection of dosas ...
