Great show which changes every year. It's not just Scottish acts and bagpipes either. This year they had groups from Korea, Mongolia, Mexico and New Zealand (the Kiwis were a favorite!). There was music, dancing and even stunt motocycle racing! Oh and the whole show ends in fireworks. Beautifully done and well worth it. The seats facing the castle are the best and I found that you could get them cheaper if you got the sections right at the corners.Recommended for:

If you will be in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival in August, and I HIGHLY recommend that you are, the Tattoo cannot and should not be missed. Be sure to buy tickets early as it sells out very quickly (usually by June or so), but sometimes last minute tickets can be find so be sure to check anyway! The show is different every year and on Saturdays includes a fireworks display. With the backdrop of the castle, international military bands, and the incredible atmosphere this is something you will never forget and a more quintessential scottish experience is not possible. Just be sure to brush up on the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne as you will be expected to sing a long at the end!

What a great show and performance by some of the world's best military bands. Some of the countries represented were Norway, Canada, USA, Australia, England, and Scotland, just to name a few. Performances ranged from bands playing traditional songs, popular Disney song, dancing, projections on the Castle, the Jubilee Crown, and fireworks. It was a wonderful show and very entertaining to see.

Go during the Tattoo. There will be at least one festival, people from all over the world, entertainment for free and then the Tattoo is fantastic. Make your you get a DVD and play it several times a year to remember this delightful event. Then make your plans for a return trip.

I had wanted to go for years & when I got the chance it was even better than I thought. I had watched it so many times on TV but it is even better being there. The atmosphere make it so much better & being with people who enjoy the tattoo makes it so special.
