This hotel isn't fancy but it is charming.
It reminds me of how I wish other hawaiian hotels were.
The service is amazing and most of the employees have been there for years.
The beach is on the best part of Kaanapali.Recommended for:

The Royal Lahaina was the first hotel built on Ka'anapali Beach in 1962. The property consists of quaint, luxurious cottage rooms on the grounds and the 12-story Lahaina Kai Tower, set on 27 acres of tropical gardens with 3 swimming pools, fronting the one and only Ka'anapali Beach. The staff is amazing and the Chef Bernardo Salazar's food is spectacular. Stay there again and again.Recommended for:

Royal Lahaina Resort – Lahaina, HI
I have to hand it to Annette, the guest services manager, she was a real gem - helpful, smiling and funny. The Royal Lahaina maintains an old-school 1960’s Jame’s Bond flavor that I really enjoyed. Dark wood, lots of mirrors, vintage quilted relics on the walls in the lobby. Gaudy – perhaps a little - but once you step into the immaculate rooms there is also a quality of elegance that’s quite special. Pools are in existence here but definitely not the main attraction. Kaanapali Beach is the place to be, or at the luau next door watching the fire dancing. The Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant found me in stitches talking with the wait staff. Everyone from the hotel patrons to the luau dancers was in the mood for entertaining conversation. Rates are reasonable for the eclectic traveler looking to enjoy vintage Maui.Recommended for:

The tower rooms is the place to stay in this hotel! We reserved the bungalow thinking it would be much quieter and more romantic. Unfortunately these rooms haven't been updated so they are not nice or relaxing. Staying in the tower we got a beautiful view, but staying in this hotel had us walking to Whaler's Village a lot. If you want so,r seclusion this place is great, but if you want easy access to Kaanapali restaurants you may want to think twice.

This hotel has the best beachfront beach (Ka'anapali Beach)! The hotel rooms are nice, we had no problem at allwith our hotel room or the hotel staff! There is a hotel luau that they have which is worth seeing if you haven't seen a luau before! There is a shopping center in the area with a good amount of restaurants to eat at. It's close to the Lahaina pier. Overall, it's a great hotel!!

Our room was comfy and had a great ocean view. Beautiful Kaanapali beach was only steps away and never crowded. This was my second time staying here and I would definitely stay here again. The staff was friendly and helpful. Compared to other resorts nearby Royal Lahaina seems almost quaint but it has everything you need in a hotel.

I'm not the hardest critic to please, especially when staying in such a naturally beautiful area, but the Royal Lahaina Resort really blew me away. From the moment we checked in we were showered with aloha, and as our vacation progressed my girlfriend and I kept feeling the same welcoming feeling. The room we had was clean and well furnished, but what was even more awesome is how close we were to the ocean. As a resident of Oahu, I was hesitant to let myself get to excited about the prospect of being near a beach, but the beauty and secluded nature of the beach here was light years ahead of any Oahu beach I have been to. We loved snorkeling at nearby Black Rock, and saw several turtles, dozens of varieties of brightly colored tropical fish, and even a small shark! I am sure there are fancier hotels in Maui, but as far as I am concerned, the Royal Lahaina Resort is a great option that has everything you could ever need out of a vacation in paradise.
