The Royal Hostel is just off Camões Square in downtown Lisbon, near the heart of one of the city’s wildest nightlife areas, Barrio Alto. The interior of this hostel (located several floors up, above the main tram street) is surprisingly large, with high ceilings and a very open atmosphere. There are a total of 44 beds available here for weary travelers to take advantage of. The hospitable staff speaks a variety of languages, and they know the ins and outs of Lisbon’s tourist scene exceedingly well. This hostel doesn’t serve dinner, but a small breakfast buffet is available in the mornings. After 7pm, you can sit down and have a drink in the Royal Hostel’s bar. The views down onto the street and the main square are splendid, and really come alive at night, when the city’s revelers start to roam the streets. If you stay in this hostel, you’ll definitely be in the center of the action.Recommended for:

The Royal Hostel is located in the center of the very hip and bohochic Barrio Alto neighborhood- home to some of the best restaurants and bars in the city. The Royal Hostel is located on the upper floors of a government building and they also have additional rooms in a nearby building on another side of the square. The hostel has a very masculine look to it with its weathered hard wood floors and vintage leather chairs. The common areas have a whole wall of windows that open up to the square outside providing a nice view. The common areas are also extremely spacious and open providing plenty of seating. They also have a small bar that is open in the evening. The rooms are also extremely comfortable with better mattresses and bedding than you would expect. While this hotel doesn’t provide a lot of additional services, it is perfect for independent travelers that want to have easy access to the most happening part of town.

If you are used to stay /like to stay at hostels, Lisbon is the best city in Europe! Altough it was my first experience in an hostel, Royal Lisbon Hostel was new, really clean and has a great hospitatily that hostel team was very helpful and nice! Beside this, it is quite central that is located in the heart of entertainment, Praca Luis de Camoes! Highly recommended!
