Some hotels feel like they came out of a box: plopped down, prefabricated and ready to run. The Royal Palms is different. Its growth feels natural. What started as a single house backed up to Camelback Mountain in 1929 has expanded over the years to cover 8.5 acres of mountainside property.
The place is gorgeous. Everywhere you look is green, flowering. Romantic winding paths through the grounds. Fountains and sitting areas cover the property so there are plenty of secluded nooks to relax and take in the scenery. Tranquility awaits at the on-site spa.
I saw two rooms when I visited the Royal Palms: a designer casita and a room in the Montevista building. Although the casitas are a bit more secluded, each with its own fireplace and private patio, they seemed a bit cramped. Gotta say I liked the Montevista rooms a bit better, especially given their view of a beautiful fountain-filled patio.Recommended for:

There is a reason the Royal Palms has trademarked the term, 'Romantication.' This resort is the ultimate in the romantic getaway - they even have their own romance team to guide your experience and guarantee pure delight! Its rustic elegance really does take you to another time and place, forgetting you are even in Phoenix. Relax on a grassy knoll beside the pool, get pampered at the Alvadora Spa and dine at one of the finest restaurants, T. Cook's Restaurant and Lounge- which serves some of the best Mediterranean inspired menus in the country. Although the resort hums romance, friends and family can enjoy a trip here, as well. With packages that promote 'Stay and Play', 'Picture Perfect: Bachelorette Boudoir' and 'Harmony Within', The Royal Palms Resort and Spa knows how to treat each and every need and desire; and the staff members are superstars.Recommended for:

Ok, I only witnessed a portion of their Romantication offering but if I ever want to impress a lady, you know get serious, I will book a weekend here. From a distance I saw a couple eating in a private location with their own live music playing for them. I inquired with the staff there, who are great, and they told me they have an entire program customized for romantic stays with several options, from private locations to be served dinner and live music selections. The resort caters to couples and weddings but the resort is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed their fitness center, wouldn't be one of my reviews if I don't bring that up. All in all, great experience.
