  • Rue Montorgueil

A bustling market street in the heart of Paris, one of the city's most traditional... offering no fewer than 7 pastry shops! Which is not at all located here, by the Arc de Triomphe (bad Google!), but rather a block from our studios.

The rue Montorgueil is a trendy pedestrian-only street just next to Les Halles shopping mall in the right bank's 2nd arrondissement. Lots of cute little shops and restaurants here; on the northern end is the Sentier neighborhood, where the bulk of Paris's wholesale apparel shops are located.

It's as dirty is it is chic, and borders a red light district. But Rue Montorgueil also feels less like a theme park then many parts of Paris. There are open air markets, cheese chops, trendy boutiques, and cafés a-plenty. Definitely worth a walk around if you are bored with the tourist must-see areas.

This newly trendy strip has a number of great shops, restaurants and cafes. A nice stroll that isn't quite as popular as the Marais not as gritty as the area around Centre Pompidou.

When I heard "market street" I think I assumed "market", but this is more like "food-oriented shop-lined pedestrian street". It's nice and I'm sure if you're staying nearby in an apartment it's a great place to food shop, but it didn't have the same vibe that a street market has.

This is a small, mostly pedestrian, street with nice cafes, restaurants, brasseries, cheese and meat shops. Its not very touristic and you can feel better the local Paris atmosphere.
