A CASTLE! Very cool! And you can go inside the central courtyard free of charge. It's not incredbily ornate castle but pretty cool to see a castle in a city! They have placards around with historical information about the castle, the history and twhich parts are original and which are restored.

Massive park with a couple castles, the papal cross, the Deerfield residence, the Wellington memorial and some native deer. It's on the bus tour route, but you can easily spend a day exploring. I went in December which was just too cold.

Yea, another free museum! And another good one, this museum kind of picks up where the archeology museum leaves off with the history of Ireland over the last few hundred years. There are two sections half the museum is decorative arts (textiles, furniture, silver ware, ect.) and the other half is the history mostly of the English occupation and rebellion ...

The book of Kells is a wonder, and the Long Room itself made an impression on me despite getting a lot of that in Cambridge. But also worth exploring the college.

Can't say that I knew the name of the river that runs through Dublin until I arrived in the city. The Liffey isn't to big and isn't too small. What I like about it most is there are LOTS of bridges so it is easy to get from one side to the other.
