The Russell Hotel's reasonably priced luxury accommodation is an attractive central London option. Its location in Bloomsbury means it's slightly mellower than the big hotels around Green Park, but it's right on the same tube line. It's got a gracious, elegant vibe, with just the seventh floor looking really modern after renovations. The restaurant serves English classics with funny names like the dessert "Eaton Mess."Recommended for:

The Russell Hotel, directly next to Russell Square, is a decent upscale hotel. The building and lobby are beautiful, but the rooms are a bit boring. I didn't spend too much time in the room though, so that didn't matter.
It's a block from the Russell Square tube stop and the British Museum.

Set on one of the most beautiful Victorian buildings overlooking Russell Square in the literary Bloomsbury district in Central London is the Russell Hotel offering largely functional accommodations with indifferent service at reasonable rates. All 373 guestrooms are blandly decorated and relatively modern; though most of the single rooms are cramped. While the casual Tempus Bar excels with its great cocktails, the Fitzroy Doll's restaurant features a reasonably priced pre-theater menu. The Conferences/Ballrooms including the Wharncliffe and Woburn Suites onsite are both famous for their dimensions and beautiful Victorian décor; the Wharncliffe accommodates up to 1000 people. Great Christmas packages bundles including holiday dinners, beverages and accommodations are offered yearly. The property is just off of the Russell Square underground station, and near the Euston, St. Pancras and Kings Cross train/rail stations, the British Museum, Covent Garden, Soho The British Library, Soho, Leicester Square, and the famous Oxford and Regent shopping streets.
